Android Emulator is basically a virtual device that emulates an Android device on a computer. In technical terms, Android Emulator is an Android Virtual Device (AVD).
Android emulator plays very vital role to test an Android application on developer system without even having an Android phone. It is also used to operate an Android device on a computer e.g. playing an Android game or using an Android app.
The Microsoft Windows Hypervisor Platform provides hardware accelerated speed enhancements for virtual devices. Windows 10 has a built-in optional feature called Hyper-V, used to create a virtual machine on Windows 10. As mentioned, Hyper-V is a built-in optional feature so, it cannot be downloaded. Android Emulator’s performance can be accelerated by enabling Hyper-V in Windows 10.
Hardware requirements for Hyper-V can be verified by Command Prompt or Windows PowerShell. Follow these steps for hardware compatibility verification of a system.
In this article, I have used Command Prompt but the procedure is same for both Command Prompt and Windows PowerShell.
If you run systeminfo command on existing Hyper-V enabled system, you will see the following message in Command Prompt.
In Windows Features if you only see Windows Hypervisor Platform instead of Hyper-V in Control Panel then your system may not be compatible for Hyper-V or crosscheck the above mentioned requirements and repeat those steps.
