Carista has over 500 000 downloads on Google Play

Sometimes big numbers do not convey accurately the amount of effort you put into a project. After all a Superbowl can be won with a single point. It doesn’t seem like much when you say five hundred thousand (of anything).

You know, the way to see this is from the other end of the barrel. How do I get an exGoogle developer to work on my car, pay his salary, his logistics cost in terms of getting the device and his knowledge to me (including the time it took to shape that knowledge into a workable form, every failed attempt, every foolish hour spent away from family and loved ones).

The time it took to get the Chinese supplier who makes the adapters to fulfill the first order. The time it took to learn how to run a business, hire staff, fire staff, hire new staff and then contact DHL and Amazon and pay the $500,000 USD it took in fees to start and run a global company …and be able to supply you with all that successful effort, on your phone.

You could start your own company and see exactly how hard it is to do all that. You probably won’t, knowing that the anticipated chance of entrepreneurial success from a start up is something lower than 10%.

Ask yourself; why would a young guy, fresh out of college trade all the perks that come with steady job at Google or one of the other tech giants to run some grubby startup?

One last important point: the Carista adapter itself is sold at cost. We could easily quadruple the price of that and still remain competitive, as OBDeleven is 89$ USD and BlueDriver is 99$ USD, as I write this.

Not alone has this guy got passion and software skills, he’s willing to trade that knowledge to you for quite a decent price, all things considered…
