Geoserver as Cesium Terrain Provider

As a member of the Aerospace Vehicle Department At UPM (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, ETSIAE), We are building a Ground Control Station for drones. One of the main aspects is to build a 3D solution with a real Digital Elevation Model and Satellite Images.

We have been chosen Cesium as an online viewer and geoserver as a terrain provider. In this article I will explain step by step all the process, puting in one place all the research I’ve done in Interner

Once downloaded, decompress it and put the jar files into ‘geoserver-2.15.2/webapps/geoserver/WEB-INF/lib’ directory. Restart the server by running shutdown.sh and startup.sh in the bin direcotory

Next step is to format the file into pyramid format.
