5 Little Ways I Show My Wife I Love and Appreciate Her

Moms are one of the most overworked and unappreciated people on the planet.

Between keeping the house in order, buying groceries, doing laundry, making sure the kids are doing their school — and sometimes an additional child as husband — they’ve got a lot on their plate.

My wife, Emilee, is a superwoman, more than she realizes. With all that she does, it often comes with little appreciation from the kids. They ask and require so much, and give so little in return. It’s no wonder she’s exhausted by the end of the day and treats herself to a long bath while listening to a podcast.

I am by no means a perfect husband or father, but here are five ways I regularly show her I love and appreciate her.

With kids being kids, they aren’t afraid to complain when they are served something they don’t like. Sometimes they don’t even finish their dinner because they’re disinterested.

And I can only imagine how that sometimes makes Emilee feel: I work so hard to make dinner for everyone and they just complain.

That’s when I swoop in and thank her for dinner and that it was delicious. Not because I feel bad. She’s a great cook and I genuinely love her meals. Hopefully that makes her feel a bit better.

If there’s any part of the house that stresses her out the most, it’s a dirty kitchen. Since Emilee cooks the meals, I do the dishes.

I make it a point to keep the load of dishes as much as I can. This means unloading the dishwasher in the morning, then loading the dishes after breakfast, lunch and dinner, and then repeat the next day.

When I remember, I also wipe down the counters. I may not do it up to her standards, but she does appreciate the effort.
