Prioritize

Do not work more to fix overwhelm — prioritize. — Tim Ferris

If I could have understood this simple lesson sooner, my entire fundraising journey would have been entirely different. I was passionate about the work I was doing and put my life into it but there was always a cloud named fundraising looming over me.

No matter how many hours of work I put in, I never accomplished everything I wanted to — especially fundraising.

It doesn’t have to be that way, though.

If I could change one thing from my time of fundraising, I would have taken the 10 minutes to write down my goals and objectives, rate them on a scale of urgency and importance, and then get on with my day.

“Overwhelmed” has no cure. There is no amount of effort that can fix “busy”. Prioritization, however, takes these abstract terms and brings them down into the physical as tasks that can be completed.

So, if you are having a hard time finding time, I challenge you to get a piece of paper and prioritize. It will change the way you live, work, and fundraise.
