The Moment I Realized Writing was Going to Change My Life

And on that note cheers to my first post.

I had finally found a way to express my introverted self without worrying about my social battery dying mid conversation. — Yeah, I suck at parties.

During a global pandemic, people were now gonna read more than ever to acquire information; Everything is online! If google isn’t your best friend then you are doing something wrong with your life. Really, I mean that.

I’m a curious guy, so I tend to dig deep into nothing and everything. I was never the greatest student but to be fair, I always found a way to get away with the bare minimum. (Cutting corners was my favorite sport!)

When you are subconsciously informing yourself on things you want to achieve, it’s time to take it to the next step. Act! There was this quote that really stuck to me and I cannot remember word for word what it is. Nor do I remember the owner, so I’ll rely on you guys to enlighten me along this post. It went something along the following lines;

“The reason why the majority of people feel like they procrastinate is because they get an idea, and don't hold on to it before they can act. The minority simply gets an idea, and start with the necessary steps to execute it right away.”

Acting on your ideas directly when they pop in your mind will increase your odds of success in whatever you’re trying to achieve. — My example is this Medium post. I thought of doing it, and I addressed all the “how’s” and why’s” I had before diving in head first. In fact, writing this took me over multiple weeks to finish. Of course, accompanied by multiple breaks and unnecessary distractions but hey. We all gotta start somewhere I guess.

There had to be a way to translate my thoughts onto a piece of paper, or better yet my computer screen to limit the effort I had to put in. Right? Right.

Before your crucify me, yes I know — This option is pretty much available on every smartphone nowadays, and maybe most laptops (although I am not too sure). Nonetheless, this tool changed the game for me. I don’t have to sit at my desk for hours, since I’m able to sit anywhere and speak the words right on to the screen using the implemented microphone.

I’m not a fan (yet) of writing on my Mac. I don’t own a comfortable computer chair, so finding the best position to write in is a challenge. Sitting down for long hours made me realize two things; I have a terrible “writing” posture and I absolutely need an ergonomic desk. They’re really convenient as you get to decide which height suits you best (standing or sitting), depending on the task at hand.

Just write. No matter how much of a hassle you think it is, it’s the perfect and easiest skill to own in 2021 — Give it a shot.

I spent days and days on Medium simply reading articles on “How to start making money blogging”, delaying my own ambitions in fear of not being ready enough. This very post is proof that I was still not ready and I decided it was best to get some reps in, and understand the field. Content is content, and the quality can only go up from here if you care about your work.

No joke. This platform requires personality; embrace who you are and find your voice along the way. Think of your online image and name as a digital asset. What are you going to teach with it? Can you change people’s lives with a few words?

You probably can, especially if you’ve been thinking about writing for a while. Nobody has ever learned the ropes without trial and error, at least not to my knowledge.
